Cash flow is the lifeblood of any business, no matter the industry or company size. However, as economic headwinds and supply chain woes challenge the bottom line for both Main Street and Wall Street businesses alike, owners are facing significant financial frictions hindering business growth. Unfortunately, small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) are especially constrained financially, as many SMBs in America remain underbanked or unbanked while inflationary pressures continue to mount and impede profitability.

       The HBCU picnic began in 2015 when ten HBCUs joined forces to serve as a platform for networking, mentorship, and promoting educational opportunities within the HBCU community.

     It was a shock to my system when I walked into the National Wildlife Federation conference in Lake Tahoe, Nevada late June. My body was still vibrating from the challenging drive from Sacramento – and by “challenging” I mean going up 7,000 feet over snowcapped mountains with winding hair pin turns through mostly forest, cliffs and sheer drop-offs.

“WORD! Celebrating 50 Years of Hip-Hop Culture” brings together literature and visual and performing arts, featuring leaders, authors and scholars of Florida’s hip-hop community, from July 13 to 15 at Broward County Library’s African American Research Library & Cultural Center (AARLCC), 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311.

     “We have had tremendous success, particularly over the last five years, of enhancing lives through quality and affordable education for all,” Haile said of Broward College which is repeatedly ranked as a top 10 college out of more than 1,000 colleges by the Aspen Institute for Community College Excellence. “We continue to uplift our students by increasing affordable educational access, providing customized learning experiences that result in job placement and creating partnerships in the community that result in a lifetime of positive impact.”

     Alphonzo “Phonz” Terrell and DeVaris Brown, the co-founders of Spill, have created a platform they said prioritizes the safety and well-being of marginalized identities, with a particular emphasis on African Americans and the LGBT-Q community.

The Florida Department of Corrections plans to allocate $1 million to a new program that will make a small number of phone calls free for people serving time in prison who display good behavior.

Those words start the “Florida Song.” In 2023, those lyrics go out to all football fans and all HBCU fans.  The Orange Blossom Classic is less than two months away and there is strife in the politics of Florida.  A series of laws passed by the legislature of Florida, which is Republican dominated to the tune of a super majority, that has caused angst among both those living in Florida and those who travel to it.

Lex Gillette became blind when he was just 8 years-old, but that didn’t stop him from going on to be successful in life.
