There seems to be so much conversation about the number of students who leave Broward schools to attend charter schools, private or home education. A former Superintendent Cartwright couldn’t answer the question.  She said the reduction in Broward’s enrollment was due to a decrease in the overall population of families in Broward. That falsehood was debunked by the Sun Sentinel. The truth is parent choice options have resulted in about 50 percent of Broward County Public Schools moving to a status of being under enrolled. Principals are not just competing with charter and private schools to keep their students. They also compete with other principals and schools in BCPS.

     The EPA said it found it “appropriate and necessary” to regulate emissions of toxic air pollution under the Clean Air Act, setting the stage to restore protections enacted when President Barack Obama’s EPA issued the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards.

     Voices for the Heart is an initiative led by biopharmaceutical giant Pfizer, dedicated to raising awareness about ATTR-CM in the Black, African American, and Afro-Caribbean communities.      Building off the core values of community and resilience last week, the Coalition to Advance Public Safety (CAPS) kicked off its groundbreaking initiative to reduce gun homicides and non-fatal shootings by 20 percent over the next five years in Newark, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, and Indianapolis – the first four of an expected 12 cities where CAPS- – will work with mayors, community based organizations and communities to scale up, unite and bring greater cohesion and funding to cities community violence intervention (CVI) ecosystems.
