     Well, I am sure you know where Peter was on Tuesday: watching others kicking and digging up sand and making a pure-T mess of things. Vickie Cartwright is finally terminated for good but not without a lot of mudslinging.  It was clear that all but one Board member came to the meeting ready for her farewell, but to Detective Traceit’s surprise ‘Super’ Cartwright was going to fight until the bitter end.

On Saturday, a 76-year-old woman was arrested after fatally shooting her terminally ill husband in the head in what police believe was an intended murder-suicide at a hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida. The terminally ill man, 77, was admitted to Advent Health Hospital three weeks ago with the intention of “ending it” if his health deteriorated further.

     The City of Miami will honor a Black Miami Pioneer Incorporator with a street named after him on Friday, February 10th.

      A man was exonerated after spending six years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit. A few alarming factors contributed to the false conviction, one of which included a scandalous romance between the lead homicide detective and a key witness, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

      The number of women who die from cervical cancer in the United States may be higher than previously believed, and the risk is greatest among older and Black women, a new study finds.” This is a preventable disease and women should not be getting it, let alone dying from it,” study leader Anne Rositch, an assistant professor of epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, said in a Hopkins news release.

Shortly after noon on Monday, protesters gathered at the gravesite of university founder Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune as campus security watched warily. The group then marched about 100 feet to White Hall chanting, “Hey hey, ho ho, the Board of Trustees has got to go” and “Hail Wildcats! Hail Belvin? Hell, no!”

     The writers and directors of this amazing, tech-savvy mystery thriller know how to cut things close. That’s because they were the editors on the cult classic Searching. Back in 2018, that taut dra/hor/mys starred John Cho and built its fear from the ground up—with normal people. That movie’s writer/director Aneesh Chaganty and co-writer Sev Ohanian produced this new spawn. That movie’s editors, Will Merrick and Nick Johnson, wrote and directed Missing. A very modern feel for storytelling using electronic components is being passed along in this standalone sequel.

      SunDown laws are another blemish to our great union’s history. When President George W. Bush spoke at the opening of the African American museum he said, “A great nation does not hide its history. It faces its flaws, and corrects them.”  We have a responsibility to know our Black history, so we can share it with the younger generations. We were not taught about Sundown laws in school. That does not suggest that our kids can’t learn about it from us! The current trend toward “Erasing” history to teach just the pretty parts is a Clarion call for our action. If we don’t know Our History, we are doomed to learn “His-Story!
