FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, The Broward County Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation announced at the Chamber’s Annual Celebration Luncheon that it received a $100,000 grant from Truist Foundation to provide technical assistance to local small Black businesses.

“Truist’s commitment to the Chamber has been unmatched,” said the Chamber’s President, Shaheewa Jarrett Gelin, Esq. “This grant demonstrates the dedication Truist has to helping the most vulnerable businesses in our community, as they prepare to be better and stronger companies than they were before the pandemic,” she continued.

The grant will allow the Chamber to expand the work it started with their Small Business Strengthening Program in 2021, where small business owners received free Quickbooks training with a certified expert and the Chamber paid for a one-year Quickbooks subscription. The grant will fund additional one-on-one training in the following areas: legal, marketing, human resources, customer services, accounting, funding, and business development.

The Broward County Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation was founded in 2017 and is dedicated to creating economically healthy communities through entrepreneurship, financial literacy education and technical assistance. This grant will enable the Chamber to reach businesses across the county and to have an impact that will be felt for years to come.

The Chamber is very grateful for Truist’s contribution and long-term partnership.
