FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA – Broward Health Coral Springs has been awarded a three-year accreditation in breast ultrasound by the American College of Radiology (ACR), a national distinction that reflects the hospital’s commitment to providing the highest level of ultrasound quality and safety.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation is awarded to facilities that meet specific requirements after a rigorous peer-reviewed evaluation from board-certified physicians and medical physicists. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are also assessed throughout the accreditation process.
“Earning ACR accreditation is a significant achievement for our radiology department,” said Kristen Bowman, chief executive officer of Broward Health Coral Springs. “We are very proud to receive this national designation that recognizes our commitment to delivering exceptional breast imaging care for our patients.”
Breast ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of breast tissue. Breast ultrasound plays a vital role in the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer, especially for women with dense breast tissue or patients requiring further evaluation beyond mammography.
“When it comes to breast health, early detection can save lives,” Bowman said. “Breast ultrasound is a powerful tool that allows doctors to examine breast tissue in real time and with enhanced clarity.”
