Broward Health Expands Visitor Policy

By Jennifer Smith

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA – Effective immediately, Broward Health has updated its visitor policy, allowing patients one visitor over the age of 18 each day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. The revised policy follows all the safety measures the healthcare system continues to implement to help limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community and ensure the well-being of our patients and caregivers.

Maternity patients will also be allowed one guest during labor, and visitors of pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit patients are welcomed 24 hours, seven days a week. Patients in the Emergency Department can be accompanied by one visitor.

All guests should arrive wearing a face covering from home. Guests who arrive without a mask will be provided one. Masks must be worn for the entirety of the visit.

Prevention of COVID-19 is the best defense against the virus and is the responsibility of each member of our community. Please continue to take simple steps to protect yourself and others, including thoroughly washing your hands, wearing a face mask and social distancing.
