FORT LAUDERDALE, FL.– Broward Health Imperial Point welcomes Jerry Capote, M.D., as its new chief medical officer (CMO). As CMO, Dr. Capote will steer and support the medical staff with the goal to provide safe, advanced, and personalized care to patients and their families at the Fort Lauderdale-based, 204-bed hospital.
“We are very excited to have Dr. Jerry Capote join our team as the chief medical officer for Broward Health Imperial Point,” said Randy Gross, CEO of Broward Health Imperial Point. “Strong collaborations and partnerships with the medical staff are critical. Dr. Capote will be instrumental in aligning hospital leaders with our physicians as we strive to enhance patient care outcomes, further develop service lines, augment physician relations, and attract new providers to our hospital.”
Prior to joining Broward Health, Dr. Capote served as the medical director of care at Hialeah Hospital. During his time as director of that hospital, he helped lead notable improvements in intensive care resulting in a 30% decrease of ventilator usage and lower patient mortality rates from 176 to 96 in just one year.
“I’m looking forward to working with the expert administrative team and skilled physicians who practice at Broward Health Imperial Point,” Dr. Capote said.
Dr. Capote holds a medical degree from the St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman and a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Florida State University. He completed postdoctoral training at Tampa General Hospital, the University of South Florida, Jackson Memorial Hospital, New York Methodist Hospital, and through various fellowships. Dr. Capote also earned board certifications in critical care, pulmonary and internal medicines.
