Activists in Georgia say a new bill being proposed by five state lawmakers will lead to the mass incarceration of children as young as 13. It’s known as the Gang Bill (House Bill 994), and it was sponsored by State Representatives Bert Reeves, Barry Fleming, Chuck Efstration, Andy Welch, and Ginny Ehrhart.

     This weekend was supposed to be one of American sports’ busiest with golf, tennis, the NBA, the NHL, MLS and dozens of spring collegiate sports leading up to the grand drama and madness that is the NCAA basketball tournament. Instead, March Madness is canceled and ESPN is already airing old games on a loop. It’s a dark time for sports fans, who have become accustomed to having sports available every single day of the year. It is bizarre and disorienting for them to be gone. My son and I have taken to watching the computer play itself on the video game “MLB: The Show 20.” He hasn’t started putting wagers on the games yet but give him time.

     At least three people who visited Mar-a-Lago in the past 10 days have tested positive for the deadly virus and were spotted in photographs with the president and other club members. A top Brazilian official, Ambassador to the U.S. Nestor Forster, who was seated with the president at a Saturday night dinner at the club, tested positive for COVID-19. So did Fabio Wajngarten, the press secretary to President Jair Bolsonaro who was spotted standing next to Trump in an Instagram post. An email to Trump supporters who attended a fundraiser at the club last Sunday suggests there was now also a mysterious third person who was at the club last weekend with the virus.

  There have been more than 89,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 around the world and over 3,000 deaths. The vast majority of cases have been in China where over 45,000 have been diagnosed. The illness is typically mild, featuring a cough, fever, and shortness of breath. Similar to the flu, people with underlying conditions and those who are elderly are at greatest risk.

     After South Carolina’s primary victory breathed new life into his then-faltering campaign, Super Tuesday left the former vice president dominating the Democratic field across the southern states. Biden and his team have the strong support shown by Black voters throughout the south to thank for the victories.
