Former Clemson defensive end Richard Yeargin, III, who now plays for Boston College, has been named the recipient of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s 2019 Brian Piccolo Award, as announced by the league on Monday.

Donzella Washington, an 80-year old woman from Alabama, is celebrating being the oldest person to ever graduate from Alabama A&M University. Even more, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.69 GPA with a degree in social work. She dedicated her achievement to her late husband who she says had always been supportive of her.
Both born during the peak of the great land boom in South Florida, the friendship and camaraderie of “Beau” and “Honey Bunch” have spanned for decades. This friendship has given the two of them countless cherished memories.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are about 38,000 new cases of HIV and AIDS each year in the United States, and South Florida regularly ranks among the highest rates of new HIV and AIDS cases. The CDC also estimates there are about 154,000 people living with HIV and AIDS who don’t know they have it. Additionally, approximately 37% of patients who do know they have HIV or AIDS aren’t getting adequate treatment to control it.

After delivering a genuinely moving and distinctly patriotic keynote address, – Vincent Viola played the role of Santa Claus and announced a $500,000 donation to UNCF (United Negro College Fund). Overall, the event raised nearly $650,000 including sponsorships and donations from approximately 300 business, civic and community influencers in attendance, including master of ceremonies, Calvin Hughes, anchor, WPLG-TV.
The members discussed the passage of the FUTURE Act, legislation that provides needed funding to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other educational institutions. “Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribally Controlled Colleges or Universities, and other Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) play a significant role in expanding access to higher education for low-income students and students of color,” said Scott, the Chair of the House Committee on Education and Labor.
