     In America today with the proliferation of gun violence, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to write about sports. The Mississippi governor shamelessly participated in an ad parodying a Clint Eastwood movie celebrating and promoting gun violence, and a young lady playing hide and seek in her yard  was shot in the head with a 22 pistol by an angry neighbor. America has lost its moral compass if it ever had one. Disrespect, distrust, fear, and hatred for anyone different in all manner of life rule the day. Pardon me for digressing.

Dumbass Florida governor and resident dumbass Ron DeSantis decided to show support to Daniel Penny in his latest infuriating tweet. Penny, the man accused of choking Jordan Neely to death on a New York City subway May 1, was arraigned and criminally charged in a Manhattan court last week.

      A state bill designed to crack down on places used for human trafficking doesn’t target hotels and motels where most of the illegal operation occurs, according to victims and lawmakers.

The buzz and excitement in anticipation of the new mixed-used development coming to the 1200 block of Sistrunk boulevard is comparable to the unveiling of a historic monument. Sistrunk Boulevard, formerly named Six Street, was once a vibrant main street for the Black community of Fort Lauderdale. It was the heartbeat of Black entrepreneurship, an economic corridor for Black-owned businesses and a corridor of Black pride and respect.

     The move to drop the charges against Gillum, a former Tallahassee mayor, comes after jurors on May 4 acquitted him of lying to federal investigators but were unable to reach a verdict on charges that he and his political mentor, Sharon Lettman-Hicks, bilked political contributors out of money and illegally steered it to Gillum for his personal use.

Authorities said Sunday that police are investigating a fatal weekend shooting in southwest Arizona that left two people dead and five others hurt, including teenagers.

     They have created this dirty mess and all Pete can do is continue traveling down these disappointing trails shaking my head in bewilderment.

     Many national organizations are teaming up with Florida local organizations to fight against the assault on democracy that is occurring in Florida. The combined team is planning a “Rolling Protest” throughout State of Florida to highlight our concerns and demand action.

     Thanks to our Black Press we can read about the history of the Black town of Langston Oklahoma. Langston was founded in 1890. The website: https://www.blackpast.org/ details the town’s principal founders as William Eagleson, a prominent newspaper editor, Edward McCabe, a former Kansas state auditor, and Charles Robbins, a White land speculator. The two Black men helped lead a migration of Black settlers from the South. The settlers came in a desperate search for solace from the “Jim-Crow” brutality. Mr. McCabe proposed creating a majority-Black state in the Oklahoma territory. He named the town for John Mercer Langston, a Black member of Congress from Virginia.
