     This gathering of Delta Authors will promote literacy, writing and publishing. Additionally, it gives added exposure while promoting book sales in our community. These amazing Authors will provide insight on their work, book give aways, and a Question & Answer session. This two hour event will take place virtually from 12 to 2 p.m. Our hosts for the event will be the outstanding radio talent, Tamara G. along w/ special entertainment.

NNPA NEWSWIRE — Human Rights Defense Center is appealing to the Third District Court of Appeal in Miami, arguing that by working in prison on a state contract, Armor must comply with Florida public records laws. “Any lawyer who represents people in prison can tell you that it’s incredibly difficult to get information on what is going on behind bars,” said Kelly Knapp, senior supervising attorney at the Southern Poverty Law Center.

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to speak out and support survivors of sexual assault and child abuse. According to Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, every 73 seconds a person experiences sexual assault in the United States. One in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives. Here in Broward, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported 688 rapes in 2019. According to the National Children’s Alliance, nearly 700,000 children are abused in the United States annually.

     Pandemic Life and Protest” by Rahsaan Alexander is a photographic art exhibition that provides a moment of reflection about life in Miami during a historic moment. This unique installation is an interactive multimedia series of programs featuring photography, literature, music, food, and dance that commemorates the one-year anniversary of the first lives lost to the pandemic in Miami.
