In recognition of Juneteenth, NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale will present “Looking Forward, Looking Back: Freedom, Afrofuturism and Reflections on Juneteenth,” a free virtual panel discussion on Saturday, June 19 at 3 p.m. This event launches Community Voices, NSU Art Museum’s new initiative supported by the Community Foundation of Broward, that focuses on exploring social and racial inequalities and challenging social structures, including representation in museums. Community Voices will provide a new forum for community discourse as it highlights topics of identity, migration and race through talks, multidisciplinary performances and workshops that are aimed at celebrating diversity and that serve as a catalyst for social change.  

       This past weekend, I was given the opportunity to go to a Formula 1 (F1) racing event. F1 racing is where competitors all over the world come together, and compete to determine who has the fastest car. I was able to go to the Hard Rock Stadium with my family, and watch the racing from a large screen. The F1 racing organization is planning on building a new track in Miami Gardens around the Hard Rock Stadium which will be called, ‘Miami Grand Prix’. Although some people agree with this idea, others oppose it. Below I have written a few of the pros and cons of adding the new racing track in Miami.

The County has received 18 Achievement Awards, including Best in Category for Broward County Transit’s Paratransit Rider’s Choice Pilot program from the National Association of Counties (NACo). These awards of achievement honor innovative and effective County government programs that strengthen services for residents.
