     Civil Rights Attorney Jennifer Bonjean Releases a Statement Regarding David Ian Blueâs Innocence (Black PR Wire) After over a month delay, Judge Michelle M. Schafer, of Williamson County Illinois, denied Civil Rights Attorney Jennifer Bonjeanâs request for a retrial for wrongfully convicted David Ian Blue. Blue was convicted of sexual assault, on September 10, 2021, by bench trial by Judge Michelle Schafer. âFalse accusations are present in 85% of wrongful convictions of child sexual assaults,â According to the National Registry for Exonerations. Blue is a victim of an unjust system, where Black men are disproportionately impacted by harmful judicial practices and wrongful convictions.
