The HistoryMakers, the nation’s largest African American video oral history archive has made this loss prevention its mission over the past 20 years. Yet, it finds itself in 2020 — its 20th anniversary year, in a race against time. To increase public understanding and awareness of this crisis, The HistoryMakers is hosting a virtual convening of some of the nation’s top African American thought leadership. Hosted on YouTube and Facebook, The HistoryMakers 20@2020: 20 Days and 20 Nights (Tuesday, December 1 – Sunday, December 20) continues to shine a light on the urgency of this issue as well as provide a first time, behind the scenes view of The HistoryMakers organization, its digital archive and educational initiatives and its iconic An Evening With… PBS-TV programs.

Black Friday officially kicked off the 2020 holiday shopping season, but the coronavirus pandemic has affected consumers’ spending habits considerably in myriad ways. Black consumers, in particular, have not been exempt from that truth, throwing into question their reliably formidable buying power at a time when businesses need as much patronage as they can get.

Noah and Treandos Thornton, who are only 5 and 8-years old, are already CEOs of their own company called T&N Bow Ties and Apparel. The Thornton family sells their bowties to raise money to buy foods and toys for children in need.
The Joint Center is hosting its 50th Anniversary celebration entitled The Eddie Williams Future of Black Com-munities Leadership Summit on December 7-9, 2020. The online event will convene Black thought leaders, academics, elected officials, and other stakeholders to help frame the economic policy agenda for Black America for the next four years in the wake of COVID-19. This three-day virtual celebration will also serve as an opportunity to commemorate five decades of the Joint Center’s progress while gearing up for the work that is ahead.

We urge the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics, the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, and the Committee on House Administration to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into Senator Graham’s conduct in this matter.”
Only 33.5% of Black households owned stocks in 2019, according to data released recently by the Federal Reserve. Among white households, the ownership rate is nearly 61%. Hispanic and other minority households also are less likely than white families to own stock.
