Every year, the American Library Association and partner organizations observe Banned Books Week to highlight and push back against these threats. This year’s Banned Books Week runs from September 18-24 amidst a wave of book bans and other attempts to restrict what people can learn.
Because of increased parent engagement, an education freedom movement is sweeping the nation that has the potential to have a significant positive impact on children and communities. The global pandemic forced parents to engage in local education policies more intentionally than we have seen in over half a century.
Where is There Unity in the Community with the General Election
Trump is the master at stacking the judicial courts and political system with sycophant enablers. He does this, which is identical to how the Mafia Boss behaved in the “Godfather,” to wield power and collect favors. Usually, his modus operandi is to dispatch one or more of his lawyers to relay his requests. As you’re aware, Trump recently used this tactic to procure Judicial Judge, Aileen Cannon, whom he nominated. He specifically chose her to review his request for a special master.
Gentrification of America’s “Black neighborhoods” has escalated the fear in our communities. Police say they are afraid when they are dispatched to patrol our communities. Cops are scared but imagine having a gangster neighbor on your left and a ku klux klansman living on your right. Look out your window to admire the white girls walking their dogs in the dead of night in the heart of the ghetto.
Accountability: An Insurrectionist Removed From Office
We’ve all heard about the restrictive voter suppression laws that far-right state legislatures are passing. We’ve heard about the crackdowns on voting hours and mail-in voting, and even on giving food and water to voters in long lines. But we don’t hear enough about redistricting as another weapon being used to intimidate voters and keep us from exercising our constitutional rights. It is erasing us from Congress and state legislatures. We need to call it out and challenge it where we see it.
While there are excellent GenZ leaders who are pro-voting, other GenZs say that they and their friends are frustrated with confusion about how the political system works, and they are reaching the conclusion that voting is a waste of time. We disagree! It is our belief that all eligible citizens in America must vote because voting is a fundamental responsibility that affects the quality of everyday living for citizens, in America.
The powers of the president are set forth in the U.S. Constitution under Article II, Sec. 2, 3, and 5. While there are Clauses enumerated within the Constitution subsections, none of these grant any additional powers. They only stipulate specific duties. Further, the Constitution does absolve the president from impeachment by the House, conviction by the Senate, or declaration of unfitness by the 25 Amendment. Also, once the president ‘s term end, all presidential powers end.
