As Commissioner of Agriculture & Consumer Services, she has been outspoken on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her plans for Black Floridians – from economic justice to fighting for Civil Rights, and more – are as aggressive as they are necessary.
America’s archenemy surreptitiously has always been itself. Before America won its independence in 1776, it revered white supremacy and still does. This inhumane ideology waged genocide against Native Americans and enslaved Black people for 246 years. Now it threatens to destroy America.
President Biden never stops working, and when you think a bill is dead, it reappears with a new name. Initially the social spending bill last year was a $3.5 trillion plan that Senator Joe Manchin was not in favor, and it died many different times. But President Biden understands compromise, and getting something is better than get-ting nothing.
They Do What They Want To
The “Blue Vein Society” began as the freed slaves migrated north to cities like New York, Chicago and Washington DC. The lighter skinned freed slaves, mostly had a lineage to a White parents. This anchored the myth of being superior to darker Blacks.
While some say we need two more U.S. Senators so that we can break the chokehold of Senator Manchin and Senator Sinema, who vote with the Republicans on all issues, we must examine all the Senate races and throw our support into every state race where we find a candidate who will commit to our agenda. Remember, only one third of the Senate is up for election each election cycle. Just as in Georgia, we can make a difference.
As I witness you celebrating the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I want to challenge you. I want you to really consider the way you are currently supporting women and children in your congregation. I hope that you will also embrace the young women who are single mothers without judgment and that your church has a ministry that caters to their needs offering both financial and emotional support beyond just the spiritual.
The truth has power. That is why an army of politicians, lawyers, political schemers, media personalities, and admirers of former President Donald Trump have tried so hard to keep Americans from learning the truth about his effort to overturn the 2022 election.
Democrats, republicans and independents agree on one thing: Now is not the time to raise taxes. Very soon, voters will decide whether to approve a request by the Broward County School Board to increase ad valorem taxes on all residents. With inflation at a 40-year high, food prices extremely high, gas costing families an additional $200 per month on average and rent costs forcing more families into poverty, I led the charge on the county commission urging my colleagues to vote NO against this additional tax increase on Broward families. Ironically, before sending this to the county commission, the School Board Members didn’t even discuss this item on a regular agenda; it was on the consent agenda with no public input. Subsequently, this proposal was placed on the county commission agenda, then I spoke out loudly and publicly against this action and more than 83% of you responded to my commission survey urging a NO vote against this tax increase.
