     She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her love for dancing and always sporting one of her “awesome hats”. She loved shopping and spending time with her family, extended family, and friends. Ann was loved by many because of her dedication, straightforwardness, and humor.

     Jimmy Cobb, the legendary jazz drummer who kept the beat going for many of the genre’s greats including Miles Davis, died May 25. NPR reported that Cobb’s wife confirmed the cause of death was lung cancer. He was 91-years old.

Mr. James “Jimmy” Anders – Retired educator, coach, and counselor. Some may remember him from Mays High School where he taught physical education and coached football and basketball from 1954 to 1967.

     On Wednesday, April 29, 2020, Charles Bernard Adderley, husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away of cardiac arrest, at the age of 78, 10 years after a subdural hematoma and stroke.

Kenneth brought the newspaper into the age of digital technology and ushered in an era of a new relevance to the publication with the inclusion of national wire service stories, and the incorporation of color photography within the pages of The Carolina Times. Though he made these improvements, Edmonds was always mindful of a statement his mother once made, “I’m trying to work my way out of a job.” She made that comment in the hopes that someday the playing field for all Americans, economically as well as socially, could be leveled.

     In normal times, funeral homes are not the source of front-page news stories. They are the places we see advertised in the middle pages of our newspapers.
