Important to know
New coronavirus cases have decreased – The number of daily new coronavirus cases has decreased since last week. The two-week downward trend suggests that the rate of transmission is decreasing. Vigilance and social distancing measures remain especially important as the level of daily new cases is still quite high.
Deaths from COVID-19 infections are still increasing – despite the downward trend in the number of new cases, deaths from COVID-19 continue to increase. This is a normal occurrence in epidemics and pandemics, as deaths always follow infections and a course of illness.
Remain vigilant! – New cases are decreasing but the virus is fully established in our communities. Follow social distancing guidelines and wear masks when out in public. Remember to avoid the three Cs:
- Avoid closed spaces with poor ventilation
- Avoid crowded places with many people nearby
- Avoid close-contact settings – such as close-range conversations
