Dear Editor,

Dear Editor,

This past Sunday, I was watching the local News Station that highlighted one of the new businesses in the Sistrunk Corridor: Sistrunk Brewery. The owner of the Brewery was interviewed and gave a tour to the reporter. The place is beautiful!  What I did not see were Black residents who live in the area. From what I could see, the diners were all white. Granted, the Brewery has not had a grand opening and most customers call in their order, but the place is opened!

Sistrunk has for so long belonged to us-Black people. The “HUB” of our Black Community. We have sold the Mizell Center, formally Provident Hospital, where many of us were born. That building is now The YMCA! How many more non-whites will have businesses in “our” neighborhood, when “once upon a time”, they would not drive through Sistrunk. In my opinion,  we (Blacks) find it so easy to forget our history.

Question: How many Black Businesses are there on Las Olas Boulevard??  D
