American voters having grown angry and fearful that America’s democracy was in danger of crumbling, decided during the 2020 Presidential election to clear the political landscape. In other words, voters elected Joe Biden as the 46th President, and gave Democrats control of the Senate and House. The newly inaugurated President, Joe Biden ran on a bold platform, “Build Back a Better America.” Little did voters know that the Democratic Party was no less fit to govern than the Republican Party.
Now it’s obvious why voters said enough is enough and removed the anti-democratic Republicans from power and put their faith in the Democratic Party. However, unbeknownst to voters, the Democratic Party has members who possess no allegiance to their party nor to the Constitution. The most glaring obstructionists are Senators Manchin and Sinema. They’re threatening to derail President Biden’s agenda. But why?
Yes, Democratic Congressperson and voters are wrangling and looking with opened eyes to the heavens for answers. What could possible be the motives of these two Senators? Senator Manchin has earned $5.2 million from his coal company, and lives on a mega yacht. Could it be that he’s indebted to the fossil fuel industry? It’s true though, diesel fuel for his yacht isn’t cheap and elections cost money. Say it isn’t so! Ole Joe Manchin isn’t against climate control because of his interest in the coal industry. Is he not a man of integrity?
Time will tell whether if the Democratic Party is comprised of leaders with integrity who champion the cause of Democracy. If not, the world’s greatest Republic could very easily suffer the fate of past empires, such as Rome. Democrats must not fall prey to demagogues, allow in fighting to stymie their ability to compromise, and refuse to modify the filibuster.
President Biden, summoned Senators Manchin, and Schumer to his home in Delaware to broker a deal. If Manchin accepts the deal, it will leave only one remaining hold-out, Senator Sinema. Having been homeless and forced to live in an abandoned gas station as a child, Senator Sinema still managed to defy the odds. She graduated high school at age 16, earned a bachelor’s and a law degree and is currently a U.S. Senator.
Senator Sinema is a true rags – to-riches American dream. Remember, her net worth now stands at one
million. So, judging from Senator Sinema’s past life and current position, she’s either out to punch society in the mouth, gain national fame, or to achieve another milestone. Surprisingly, money may not be her objective. It could be a government that’s more for, of, and by the people.
It’s obvious that she does march to a different drum beat. Consequently, she requires using a different litmus test to decipher her motives. Given her toughness, and tenacity, President Biden should, jokingly, offer her the position of Attorney General for her support as well as toughness.
On the other hand, Attorney General Garland doesn’t seem to project the necessary leadership and toughness to tackle the myriad of challenges threatening America’s Democracy at the state and National levels. Even though he seems brilliant, his sheer demeanor and hoarse staccato speech fail to convey with power the conviction required to fervently defend our Democracy.
Also, Attorney General Garland warrants replacing if his previous remarks implied that we need not look backwards at previous investigations. Another comment that should give rise to his suitability for his job occurred when he inferred during a hearing that vigorous prosecution of insurrectionists and domestic terrorists may cause more radicalization. It’s preposterous to think that prosecuting insurrectionists may cause more radicalization of others. Weren’t the insurrectionists already radicalized enough?
Right about now, former President Theodore Roosevelt’s famous words, “speak softly and carry a big stick,” should serve as the driving force to defend America’s Democracy. And every available law within the U.S. Constitution must be used to punish all insurrectionists, domestic terrorists, and Republicans charged and found guilty of acts of seditions.
A Nation that fails to punish those who attempt to destroy it, gives aid to its enemies.
