The Florida A&M University (FAMU) men’s golf team was selected a 13th seed in the Tallahassee Regional during Wednesday’s NCAA Regional Selection Show on the Golf Channel.

The Rattlers, which won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Golf Tournament by 19 strokes, earned the conference’s automatic qualifier for the regional. The NCAA Men’s Golf Regional will be held May 17-19 at the Seminole Legacy Club, on the campus of Florida State University (FSU) one  one of six hosts.

“We are ecstatic that we were selected to play at one of the top courses close to home,” said FAMU head coach Mike Rice. “We were selected with some of the best teams in the country and we look forward to going out there and competing with them.”

One of the premier University golf courses in the country, Seminole Legacy Club recently underwent a comprehensive renovation of its golf facilities.

The course stretches out to 7,800 yards from the back tees and offers surprising elevation changes of up to 50 feet.

The Rattlers placed four out of its five golfers in the top five at the MEAC Golf Championship to lead to the program’s first conference crown.

FAMU wrapped up the regular season on Wednesday at the PGA Works Collegiate Championship, hosted by PGA of America, at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

The Rattlers finished the nine-team field in third place.

Joining FAMU in the 14-team field is top seed FSU, Georgia, Liberty, Louisiana State University, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Texas Christian University, Indiana, Kansas, University of Southern California, Ohio State, Davidson and Long Island University.

The top five teams and the individual with the best score not on an advancing team from each regional site will advance to the national championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, from May 28-June 2.
