MIAMI GARDENS, FL —  After a tight first half that was separated by only seven points, Florida Memorial dominated the second half to take their ninth straight win against Florida National with a final score of 80-60 at the FMU Wellness Center, continuing their undefeated streak against the Conquistadors.

The first quarter began with a tight battle between FMU and FNU. The Lions entered the second quarter with a five point advantage, but the Conquistadors kept pace to make it a seven point contest going into the half. Florida Memorial proceeded to explode in the third quarter, outscoring Florida National 28-15 and giving themselves a 20-point cushion heading into the fourth quarter.

Lions guard Dasiah Thornton was a flamethrower, producing a game-high 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, including 6-of-10 from downtown. Philly native Quameerah Peterson-Gray added 15 points for FMU, nailing 5-of-6 free throws.

Former first-team All-SUN selection Chantel Barnett finished with 12 points for Florida Memorial while graduate student Madison Sjogreen chipped in with 10 points for FMU.
The win moves Florida Memorial to 2-2 on the year, ending a two-game skid.

The Lions return to action Thursday, November 16 where they’ll host the Virgin Islands.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
