Bell’Arte Concert Series Continues with Divas of Soul at Pompano Beach Cultural Center

     Submitted by Kay Renz

Pompano Beach Cultural Center is thrilled to host international singing powerhouse Alfreda Gerald in Divas of Soul, a musical celebration of the classic songs of Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston and more.  Gerald has graced the world’s leading stages, and now she’s performing in Pompano Beach on January 26, 2023. This is the third in the Bell’Arte Concert Series, produced by “Generation” Venetian Arts Society (GENVAS) specifically for the Center, and is presented as a preview of Black History Month.  The event is ticketed, and the $45 ticket price includes a post-concert champagne and dessert reception with the artist. “Alfreda Gerald is a spectacular talent with a spell-binding stage presence,” said Ty Tabing, Director, Cultural Affairs Department. “We are thrilled that she will be honoring the greatest female singers of all time in her own inimitable style.”

Gerald has performed shows throughout the world, singing at some of the most preeminent venues on earth, including Royal Albert Hall, Madison Square Garden, Sydney Opera House, The Acropolis, and even the mighty Wembley Stadium. She has been a featured vocalist with Yanni on several of his singles, has performed in three of his world tours, and appears in the live concert films Tribute, and Yanni Live! The Concert Event. During the show in Pompano Beach, she will be accompanied by a keyboard, bass, horns, and the GENVAS Ensemble Dancers.

Gerald is an eclectic singer, seamlessly performing music in genres as diverse as classical, soul, pop, blues, rock, R&B, and electronic dance music.  She has toured and/or recorded with many artists including Elton John, Warren Haynes, The Gap Band, Michelle Malone, Third Day, Celine Dion, The Black Crowes, Gladys Knight, Shawn Mullins, Taliesin Orchestra and more. Her impressive classical vocals have also put her centerstage with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra.

TuneCloud states about Gerald’s latest recording, “Engrossing, exciting, deep, meaningful and impactful, are all words that easily go together, to describe the indelible impression left after listening to Broken Promised Land.”
