Gwen Thomas, the Personification of a Student-Athlete

Gwen Thomas

      Ms. Gwendolyn G. Thomas is a graduating senior of Miami Northwestern Senior High School who has earned a 4.3 grade point average as a penultimate student-athlete, a high achiever academically and athletically. Not only is Gwendolyn excelling as a Northwestern Bull, she will achieve dual honors graduate status, earning simultaneously her Associates of Arts Degree from Miami Dade College. In addition to her academic and athletic achievements, she  is the Student Government Association (SGA) President, a National Honor Society Officer, a member of the National Math Honor Society, National Social Studies Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National PTSA, National Thespian Honor Society, Performing Arts Magnet Student, Varsity Cheerleader and Baseball Manager.

   Gwendolyn is also a member of numerous community service organizations where she holds positions on the national, regional and local levels. Her community service extends from feeding the homeless, clothing and toy drives, participating in cancer walks and fundraisers as well as other important disease awareness walkathons. An advocate for senior citizens and youth, she is also a youth member of the NAACP, NCNW and Top Teens of America where she is committed to educating the community on voter education and awareness and women’s rights.
  Gwendolyn is a Silver Knights Nominee for Miami-Dade County and a gymnast with the USA Junior Olympics women’s gymnastics team, having won the State of Florida’s 1st Place Vault Championship and finishing  2nd in the All Around competition.  She  will continue competing in the field of gymnastics, Acrobatics and Tumbling in college.
Gwendolyn will pursue her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice-Pre Law immediately after completing high school.

HERstory

GiGi is returning to full time competition after suffering a devastating knee injury, a torn ACL and meniscus. Her tenacity and positive attitude has paved the way for a fantastic come back and senior year after not competing for 2 years! 1st Place Vault State of Florida Champion and 2nd Place State All Around Champion. She epitomizes the very best in academic and athletic achievement, portending a tremendously bright and successful future.
