The day marks the celebration of the birthdays’ of the first President of the United States of America-George Washington and the abolisher of slavery-Abraham Lincoln. Their actual birthdays are on 22nd and 12th Feb respectively.

In the year 1968, the Government of the United States chose a particular day for this occasion, and came to a conclusion that every third Monday of February each year would be celebrated as the Presidents’ Day.

And in this year-the day falls on the 18th of Feb.

In many states the Presidents’ Day is also observed in the honor of all the Presidents of America.
