Nearly a week after retired NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater led Miami Northwestern High School to a state championship in his first season as coach, he has expectedly drawn interest from elsewhere.

And elsewhere have been HBCUs with coaching vacancies.

Bridgewater, who played nine seasons in the NFL for seven different teams, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that an undisclosed HBCU contacted him for an interview.

“A new HBCU reached out to interview me today, and a couple of NFL teams have also offered coaching jobs. This is a cool process, no lie,” Bridgewater posted.

The revelation comes days after Norfolk State hired ex-NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Michael Vick as head coach.

Current openings for head football coaches at HBCUs include Prairie View A&M, Mississippi Valley State, Alabama A&M, Delaware State, Lane College, Fort Valley State, and Shaw.
