The streaming platform HBCU Go is expanding its reach for Black college sports.
The Bryon Allen-led media organization announced recently that it is increasing the ways HBCU sports fans will be able to consume live events for the 2024-25 season.
The streaming platform announced on Wednesday that it has expanded nationwide clearance for its 2024-25 sports season.
The expansion includes FOX owned-and-operated stations in Los Angeles, Chicago and the Armed Forces Network, according to a press release.
In the news release, HBCU GO indicated that it “is cleared in over 95% of U.S. television households,” along with 15 new television markets.
The streaming platform said HBCU GO has also secured distribution agreements with AMG Broadcasting, Sinclair, Gray, Tegna, Hearst, Nexstar, and Scripps networks.
“It is important for us to showcase these excellent athletes and amazing HBCUs — not just in their hometowns, but to sports fans worldwide,” said Byron Allen, founder, chairman and CEO of HBCU GO’s parent company Allen Media Group. We are proud to be the No. 1 provider of live Black college sports.”
There will be 26 HBCU football matchups this season, including eight CIAA games, nine SIAC games and 14 in the SWAC, including the Southern Heritage Classic and the CIAA Football Championship.
