Frankly Speaking
By W. Frank Wilson
During my time in Atlanta, one TV stations would come on with this statement and question: Itâs 10 pm in Atlanta; do know where your children are?
This is a question that needs asking and answering in many cities.
Itâs been reported that one of the victims in the ASU shooting was 13 years old and in my old antiquated school of thought my question is what business did a child that age have on a University campus without supervision? I donât give a ratâs ass who was performing! Hell, my boy child wouldnât have been there and my girl children wouldnât have even asked!
My grown children, especially my daughters, to this day check with me when theyâre out late or traveling because thatâs how they were âTrainedâ.
Scripture does speak on training up a child the way he / she should go, and when they are old they wonât depart
Good parenting will create the âFRIENDSHIP â way too many parents are trying to create with callous supervision and no accountability.
Children are actually raising parents while parents raise hell about everything except whatâs important.
Thereâs something to be said about rules, expectations and boundaries
I know Iâm old, but common sense has no shelf life.
I donât push my theology or theocracy on others nor do I lay claim to there being a fool proof way to parenting, but I have noticed that communication works across generations.
Kids especially will live up or down to the standards set for them.
When will we stop the tail from wagging the dog?
