The Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) recently named Henri W. Crockett as its 87th president and chair, marking a historic milestone as the first Orange Bowl alumnus to hold the position.
Crockett is a former collegiate and professional football player, philanthropist and entrepreneur who brings a passion for youth empowerment, education and community engagement to his new leadership role.
Stepping into Leadership

Born and raised in Pompano Beach, Crockett has deep roots in the South Florida community. As a teenager, Crockett attended Blanche Ely Senior High School and was named an All-American Athlete in Parade Magazine’s Super Prep and Football Report.
He earned an athletic scholarship and played linebacker at Florida State University. Crockett was a Seminoles’ 1993 NCAA Division I National Championship team member, played a pivotal role in the Seminoles’ 1993-97 ACC Championship teams, and helped secure the 1994 Orange Bowl victory over Nebraska.
Following his collegiate success, Crockett entered the NFL in 1997, playing seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons – including a Super Bowl XXIII appearance – and later with the Minnesota Vikings.
As president of the Orange Bowl Committee, Crockett is looking forward to giving back to South Florida through sports, mentorship and community initiatives.
“The opportunity to serve in this leadership capacity is an extension of my lifelong commitment to uplifting others, especially our youth, through sports, education, and mentorship,” said Crockett.
Advancing the Orange Bowl’s impact
In his new position, Crockett will spearhead the OBC’s commitment to economic and community growth, which will soon culminate in the 2026 College Football Playoff (CFP) Quarterfinal – The Capital One Orange Bowl on Jan. 1, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium.
Crockett is also a board member of the Miami Host Committee for the 2026 CFP National Championship Game, which will also be played at Hard Rock Stadium on Jan. 19, 2026.
For nearly a century, the Orange Bowl Committee has driven tourism, economic development and youth programs, injecting millions into the South Florida economy. Under Crockett’s leadership, this legacy will continue to expand through the Orange Bowl Cares program, which focuses on youth sports, education, community engagement and legacy programs.
Business Leader, Community Advocate
Beyond his Orange Bowl contributions, Henri Crockett is also co-founder and president of the Crockett Foundation, a Broward County-based nonprofit providing after-school and summer youth development programs. The foundation’s initiatives include coding programs for middle school students, community health festivals, and annual fundraising events such as the March 29 Sips & Cigars Fundraiser and the Crockett Foundation Weekend, which features a black-tie gala, golf tournament, and youth football camp.
Since its inception, the Crockett Foundation has transformed the lives of thousands of South Florida students, aligning with the Orange Bowl’s mission of youth development and mentorship.
In addition to his philanthropic work, Crockett is also a successful entrepreneur. He is the president and CEO of South Florida Development & Investment Company, Guaranteed Enterprise Trucking Services, and Vanity Salon.
Crockett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminology from Florida State University and remains an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Looking Ahead
As Crockett leads the OBC into a new era, the organization continues its strategic succession planning.
Michael E. Moran, named president-elect, is set to become the 88th president and chair from 2026-2027; Hector Tundidor Jr., serving as first vice-chair, is poised to take the helm in 2027-2028; and Eric L. Poms is entering his 20th year as CEO and 32nd year with the Orange Bowl Committee.
