    As of press time Tuesday evening, the National Hurricane Center said that the storm brought “catastrophic winds, flash flooding and storm surge to the island”.

    Hurricane Melissa made landfall as a Category 5 with winds of 185 mph. It’s “one of the most powerful hurricane landfalls on record in the Atlantic Basin.”
