The IRS has activated the “Get My Payment” tool on its website for Americans to track the status of stimulus checks from the recently signed $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package.
The online tool went live Sunday, one day earlier than scheduled, an ABC News affiliate in South Carolina reported.
The IRS said the processing of the new stimulus checks began Friday. The status of the first and second rounds of stimulus checks will no longer be available via the “Get My Payment” tool, agency officials said.
The relief package signed into law Thursday by President Biden provides qualified taxpayers up to $1,400, with payments to eligible families of four with $5,600.
Agency officials said the latest tax return available will be used to determine the amount a taxpayer will receive.
Taxpayers who have submitted their bank information to the IRS will receive their stimulus funds through direct deposit while others will get paper checks or debit cards mailed to them.
