Florida A&M this week announced the hire of new athletic director Angela Suggs.

Suggs, a FAMU alum, was previously the president and CEO of the Florida Sports Foundation and replaces Tiffani-Dawn Sykes, who was dismissed in August in a university staff purge by interim President Timothy Beard.

First-year head coach James Colzie was asked on Monday whether he expressed any football program-related desires for Suggs to handle despite her not officially starting until Oct. 7.

Colize, who said he met with Suggs prior to her introductory press conference, didn’t share any specifics, though he did want to relay an important message.

“She’s a FAMU alum. She loves FAMU,” he said. “I would say to her love FAMU. I can’t necessarily share my wish list, but I would ask her if you love FAMU, continue to do so with the football program in mind.”
