Joyful Noise Brings Revival, Community and Celebration to Fort Lauderdale

Praise to the Music: Local performers and DJs helped create an energetic atmosphere as the South Florida community gathered to celebrate faith, fellowship and the message of Joyful Noise.

Hosted by New Mount Olive Baptist Church in partnership with Mount Hermon A.M.E. Church of Fort Lauderdale and other area congregations, the event brought the spirit of revival beyond the walls of the church and directly into the community.

Held at the New Mount Olive Multipurpose Annex, Joyful Noise featured its first Block Party and Kingdom Market, transforming the grounds into a family-friendly gathering place where people of all ages could celebrate Jesus Christ through music, dance, praise and fellowship.

For Pastor Marcus D. Davidson, one of the most encouraging sights was the number of young people who not only attended but openly embraced their faith.

“It was certainly reviving to see all of the young people who came out, gave their lives to Christ and were not ashamed to worship,” Davidson said.

That spirit was echoed by Hakeem, a young worshiper, who said seeing other young people openly expressing their faith made the gathering particularly meaningful.

“Wow, this is amazing,” Hakeem said. “It really feels good to see other young people worshiping who were not afraid to show their love for God.”

The event offered free admission and free food, along with live music, DJs, vendors and special performances. 99 JAMZ Radio also brought its presence to the celebration.

The Kingdom Market showcased local entrepreneurs and vendors offering food, cakes, T-shirts, shoes and other merchandise, giving the event an added focus on supporting community businesses.

For children preparing to return to school, the celebration carried another special blessing: new book bags for the school year. Young people were among the most enthusiastic participants as they enjoyed the activities, music and fellowship throughout the day.

Despite the August heat, organizers provided cooling stations and plenty of water to help keep participants safe and comfortable.

But organizers emphasized that Joyful Noise was about much more than food, music or a block party.

It was about ministry.

The gathering was designed to bring hope, joy and a positive spiritual presence to Fort Lauderdale while demonstrating what can happen when churches and community partners work together in service to others.

Throughout the celebration, participants sang, danced, praised, and connected with neighbors some familiar and others meeting for the first time. Perhaps most significant was the visible presence of young people worshiping openly and, as Davidson noted, making decisions to give their lives to Christ.

The event’s theme drew from Psalm 100, which calls believers to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” and to serve Him with gladness. Saturday’s gathering brought that scripture to life as generations came together in worship and celebration.

For New Mount Olive, Mount Hermon A.M.E. and their community partners, Joyful Noise demonstrated that revival does not have to be confined to a sanctuary. It can happen wherever people gather with a shared commitment to faith, family, fellowship, and service.

For those who attended, Saturday was not simply another community event. It was an opportunity to experience what organizers described as the joy of the Lord while strengthening bonds across Fort Lauderdale and South Florida.

And for more than 1,000 people who gathered in the summer heat, the message was unmistakable:

Fort Lauderdale made a joyful noise—and a new generation was not ashamed to worship.
