“One who concedes integrity; mitigates their power, and without either becomes a puppet!” John Johnson II 01/24/23 – SCOTUS, Beware!
By John Johnson II
Avoiding the lessons of history is one of the surest ways to repeat the mistakes of once great, yet fallen, empires. These history lessons, ever so plainly, provide incredible information as to the reasons for the perilous fate of these empires. Simply put, these lessons are like a restaurant’s menu containing foods to avoid if you don’t want to suffer a perilous fate. Consequently, governing with a blind eye to history, America’s former president Trump and the Republican Confederacy are attempting to destroy democracy one institution at a time.
A cursory review of current events also reveals that a Nation declines when its people become preoccupied with lesser tasks and grow silent. Had abolitionists grew silent slavery may not have ended in 1865; and had Dr. King grew silent we wouldn’t have gained passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Had George Floyd died without crying out for his mama, America may have remained silent.
Republican congresspersons aren’t only silent about Trump’s unfitness, they’re enthralled with his braggadocious stupidity. Unbelievably, they’re loudly endorsing him for president even though he appears in mental and physical decline. There isn’t an NFL owner who would hire a Head Coach in physical or mental decline. Would airlines hire a pilot in mental or physical decline? Hopefully, not!
Using a vignette approach to expose the Republicans’ Confederacy plot provides an opportunity for readers to examine the correlation between the causes of past fallen empires with Republican’s attempts at destroying America’s democracy. To determine the extent to which a correlation exists, it’s important to note that historians cite the following as causes for seven empires collapsing during the 20th century:
- Political Issues, corruptions, and ineffective governance;
2.Social unrest, ethnic and nationalist tensions and cultural issues, and failure to adapt to internal strife;
- Economic issues such as inflation, debt, unequal distribution of wealth, maintaining large military forces, wars; and
- Environmental/climate control issues. Toxic air, water, food, and soil pollutants.
POLITICAL DECLINE: Since the 2016, presidential election of Trump as the 45th president, America has become more divided politically and racially than before the Civil War. Trump’s presidency has made the world more dangerous. He was ineffective at handling the COVID pandemic, the immigration border crisis, the onslaught of Hurricane Harvey, and the rapid escalation of North Korean nuclear threat. His immoral character led him to share top secrets with foreign officials, hire incompetent staffers, and demand loyalty to him, as though he’s a king, rather than the US Constitution.
Trump’s most egregious act involved his attempt to overthrow the government. Yet Republicans hale him as though he’s their rightful Confederate president.
SOCIAL DECLINE: Trump’s rhetoric about immigrants poisoning the blood of Americans just added fuel to white Evangelicals’ beliefs that IMMIGRANTS THREATEN America’s white culture.
Trump in a cynical plot coalesced heated issues during the 21st century to create a political and social firestorm. Using this strategy, he ignited a new “Infamy,” the January 6, 2021, insurrection. Had Obama committed any of these egregious acts, his conviction and imprisonment for life would’ve occurred without any appeals. Justice in America remains “just for white privileged. SCOTUS appears prepared to enshrined unequal justice in America. Evangelicals’ and white supremacists’ hatred towards an inclusive society constitutes a major sweltering threat to democracy.
ECONOMIC DECLINE: Trump in 2017 created the greatest transfer of wealth, $2 trillion, from the poor to the wealthiest Americans in history. While inflation is coming down, the nation’s debt is spiraling out of control at light speed. A nation’s uncontrollable negative debt ratio in relationship to its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a factor that can be catastrophic. The (GDP) represents the estimated size of the US economy.
Common sense should reveal that no nation can survive long footing the bills for senseless struggles, called wars, and remain solvent. Remember, the Vietnam ($120 billion) and Afghan ($2 trillion) struggles comprised 40 years.
Failure to fund these senseless struggles with new taxes merely compounded the debt. Now, senseless new costly struggles have emerged in Ukraine, Israel, Palestine and Yemen. It’s more than frightening; it’s insane to operate our government in this manner!
ENVIRONMENTAL /CLIMATE DECLINE: It’s sad to have to compare the devastating impact of environmental/climate control to the deadly impact of the lack of common-sense gun regulation. Yes, guns in the hands of the unfit kills thousands annually. However, failing to address environmental/climate issues will cause not only the deaths of millions, but also will destroy democracy as well as the planet itself.
Study.com reported that, “pollution contaminates the air and water with toxins, which leads to health consequences.” COVID-19, which has already killed millions, remains a deadly killer as it mutates and forms new diseases. Why are Americans less resistant to these new diseases? Is it because our immune systems are now weaker because of pollutants? Guns kill people; environmental neglect kills generations of people, democracy, and even planet earth.
