Mobile Health Centers to be in Pembroke PinesEach Week from June 24-August 14  JDCH Mobile Health Center

     Submitted by Aimee Adler Cooke

PEMBROKE PINES, FL – Memorial Healthcare System’s “One City at a Time” program, which kicks off with a community event June 21 in Pembroke Pines, will remain in the community in the weeks that follow, providing the city’s residents free, health-related resources and services at locations convenient to them.

Memorial Primary Care will staff pediatric and adult mobile health centers each Tuesday and Thursday from June 24th through August 14th (9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.). Offerings in Pembroke Pines will include medical exams and screenings, vaccinations, nutritional counseling, Medicaid eligibility and insurance enrollment, referrals to social services and specialists, and access to primary care physicians. No appointment is necessary, and all services are free of charge:

    • Tuesdays — Memorial Park (behind Charles F. Dodge City Center) — 10601 SW City Center Boulevard
    • Thursdays — Pines Place Apartments — 8210 Florida Drive

The localized outreach seeks to improve the health of the uninsured or underinsured, in part, by removing barriers to health and care and making it easier to connect with available resources. It’s all part of Memorial’s commitment to proactive health that can prevent or more easily treat chronic conditions before they become a crisis for an individual and his or her family. “We know that not having easy access to care is one of the social determinants that impact a person’s overall health,” said Dionne Blackwood, FACHE, vice president of Memorial Primary Care and Ambulatory Services. “That’s why we’ve made the commitment to have our mobile units on-site at community locations to make it easier for people to care for themselves and their families.”

The One City at a Time program gets underway in Pembroke Pines June 21 (10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) at the Charles F. Dodge City Center. It has previously launched in Hallandale Beach, Dania Beach, Hollywood, and Miramar.

Memorial Primary Care, part of Memorial Healthcare System, is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care. With numerous locations and outreach throughout South Florida, its highly-skilled team of healthcare professionals works to meet each individual’s needs in a friendly and culturally-sensitive environmen
