Fans tuning into Fox NFL Kickoff on Sunday were greeted by a familiar face — former NFL star Michael Vick made his return to the broadcast team.

Vick joined Carissa Thompson, Julian Edelman, and Charles Woodson.

Vick had spent the past year away from television to pursue a new challenge: coaching college football. Serving as the head coach at Norfolk State, he embraced the difficult but rewarding transition from the broadcast studio to the sidelines.

Reflecting on his first season, Vick admitted it was a learning curve but one filled with valuable lessons. “It was a great learning experience,” he said. “The record didn’t reflect the vision, but I’ve got to give credit to my players and coaches — they never quit. They fought hard to the very end.”

Norfolk State went 1-11 and did not win a single MEAC conference game this past season.

The former quarterback, known for his dynamic play during his NFL career, hinted that he plans to apply a more disciplined coaching philosophy in the future. “Maybe I’ve got to come in with the Nick Saban mentality at the start of next year,” Vick joked, drawing laughter from his fellow analysts.

As the broadcast continued, the camaraderie between the hosts underscored what fans have come to love about Fox NFL Kickoff — a blend of insider football expertise and off-field personality. For Vick, the moment represented a homecoming, both to the network and to the energy of game day conversations.

“It’s all about being with family,” Thompson said, smiling toward Vick. “And today, the family’s back together.”
