Nations top prospect out for the season

Written by Phillip Haywood

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Ryan Green is one of the nation’s top recruits and who he has given FSU a verbal commitment has been injured.  However, the nature of his injury was a torn labrum and he has already had surgery and he is expecting a full and speedy recovery.

It is a typical injury that occurs with baseball players. It occurred during an intrasquad scrimmage and apparently he aggravated the injury making a tackle, but he continued to play.

Here is something to think about, injuries are a part of the game, nevertheless his injury came at an inopportune time but it was better to have happened early in the season rather than late. Here is why, Green is also a very good basketball player and he is also one of the best track athletes in the area.  With that being said his rehabilitation period is about three months which should have him ready for the upcoming basketball season as well as The Under Armour All-American Game which is held right here in our own backyard.

The one thing that the Green family did do was not drag the recruiting process any further than they had to.  Obviously going to a plethora of camps put Green on the map early and often. Actually there is an advantage to giving a school an early commitment simply for situations like being injured in your senior year.  Some schools sometimes shy away from players depending upon the nature of the injury. In Green’s case FSU has already contacted him and keeps a watchful eye as their prize recruit starts to get the rehab process underway.

Finally, even though Green sustained an injury it will not hamper his athletics anytime after November.  If you know Ryan Green he will come back with a vengeance and he will be better than ever.
