Nelson Mandela still in the hospital, hanging on
By Black Like Moi
Nelson Mandela is a very strong man. He’s been in the hospital for days at a time, and every time people think he’s gone, he keeps holding on. The former South African president is now recovering from a lung infection and the country is praying that he will be OK.
The government has been mum on his condition, but say that he is in serious condition. Children are singing for him and others have gathered at the hospital for prayer. We are praying too.
The leader of South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement, Mandela spent 27 years in prison during white racist rule. He was released in 1990, becoming South Africa’s first Black president in 1994.
