Nunnie on the Sideline

If you want 45 or a 45 sycophant like Florida’s racist, despicable governor to set foot anywhere near the White House, DON’T VOTE!!! Another thought to ponder, especially for athletes considering where to attend college: Steve Marshall, Alabama Attorney General, where abortions are completely illegal, believes he has the authority to prosecute Alabamians who assist any person attempting to get an abortion,  even outside of the state. Just think about it. You can have an impact politically as parents and athletes.

Coco Gauff became the number 3 ranked player in the world after her  stunning, decisive victory over Aryna Sabalenko to win her first major tennis championship, the U.S. Open in New York. After honoring and thanking her parents and team, she was seen kneeling to thank God for her myriad blessings. Naysayers found reason to criticize her reverence, typical of today’s political climate. We pray that God will bless her with many more victories in the ensuing years.

The acquisition of future HOF quarterback Aaron Rodgers took a sudden downward spiral when Rodgers was sacked after dropping back to pass in the first MNF game of the year. Carted into locker room for evaluation, it didn’t appear that his return was imminent, an Achilles tear the expected diagnosis. What brutal irony on full display in front of millions.  We hope that his injury is not serious or season ending. Damar Hamlin, whose cardiac arrest episode last year nearly ended his life, and was cleared by at least 5 doctors, opted not to play in the MNF game against the Jets.

Lebron James and Steph Curry are considering an Olympic run in France next year. Let’s hope so after the U.S. team’s performance in the FIBA games.

14 Black quarterbacks started for NFL teams as the regular season kicked off. Boy, how times have changed. How many of you recall the great Tenn. St. QB Eldridge Dickey being drafted as a wide receiver?

I pray for fewer cancellations of high games as the season progresses. Our young, gifted athletes deserve to play complete games.  I’d love to hear from you: nunnie_robinson@yahoo.com; (954) 525-1489.
