Perhaps the BCPS Board should have check their list twice

Trails in the Sand by Peter Traceit, the Street Detective

Ol Pete is thinking, did anyone ever wonder why Palm Beach County didn’t hire Dr. Peter Licata?  Palm Beach Public Schools had a Super position around the same time Broward had one.  Yet, Palm Beach named an interim Sup from the inside (not Licata) and months later made the interim permanent. Even though members of the Broward School Board didn’t want to hire Dr. Valerie Wanza, they had enough respect for its homegrown “girl” to run a process and allow her to enter the race.  Palm Beach, on the other hand, wouldn’t even sniff in Licata’s direction. It seems that Broward fell for the okie-doke and did Palm Beach a favor by taking Licata off their hands.

Ol Pete is told that the former Miami-Dade county superintendent spent a great deal of time poking fun at the public foolishness in Broward.  Might Palm Beach have joined Miami-Dade in laughing at Broward as it remains the butt of the cruel jokes made at their own expense.

Detective Peter Traceit told you so.  The Street Detective told you all that Dr. Sito Narcisse, the Superintendent from East Baton Rouge Parish, was the way to go. The Street Detective will just put it out there. It wasn’t because he is Black. Narcisse was the most qualified. There is just this belief that once one Black person has a job and leaves it a mess, it’s doggone near impossible for another one to be hired afterwards. Robert Runcie left a bad taste in the mouth of many when he refused to simply bow out gracefully soon after the Marjorie Stoneman Douglass shooting. Two Blacks, Dr. Sito Narcisse and Dr. Valerie Wanza, could have taken the wheel and steered the district successfully. The effort to block Narcisse had Board members spouting known untruths about the man from the dais and another changing his vote from what was written on paper to the verbal roll call.

This Board has a difficult time making decisions based on what’s best for the students and employees. The politics and personal agendas continue to plague them to the detriment of the district.  The Detective finds it hypocritical that many speak poorly of former Board members whose decisions were shrouded in politics and personal agendas, yet the theme of corruptions continues to be played out.

Ol Pete told you so. There’s some real truth coming from these sands. If the readers and leaders were wise, they wouldn’t count Ol Pete and his debris out. They would wallow in the dirt with The Detective to clean up and root out the corruption.
