The Rev. Jesse Jackson fell and hit his head Monday during a visit to Howard University in support of students protesting unsafe housing conditions.

Jackson, 80, was rushed to the hospital and underwent a series of tests, including a CT scan, which all came back clean, according to his spokesman.

He was kept overnight for observation at Howard University Hospital, the major Washington, D.C. facility tied to the HBCU.

“Family, he’s resting comfortably & doing well,” his daughter, Santita, tweeted Monday night. “Fighting (for you) is what he’ll always do.”

The civil rights leader, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2017, has now been hospitalized at least three times this year. He and wife Jacqueline were both hospitalized in August with breakthrough COVID-19 and he separately underwent gallbladder surgery in February.

Students at Howard University have been protesting since mid-October over the conditions of on-campus dorms, which they say are overrun by mice, mold and roaches.

University President Wayne A.I. Frederick said last week that he has invited “a building inspector, elected officials, student leaders, board members, deans, alumni and media to visit our residence halls and affirm the conditions.”
