By Your Black World

Santa Monica College is reportedly on lockdown after a shooting sent multiple people to the hospital, according to an NBC affiliate in southern California.

Witnesses on the scene indicated that there were several victims but did not provide any additional information.

“Police sources told the Times the three victims were shot inside a car either on the campus or near the campus,” reports Los Angeles Times.

A person believed to be the gunman was reportedly shot and taken into custody.

Students who are already on the campus have been advised to remain where they are while students outside the campus were told to remain off campus while the investigation is ongoing.   All other schools in the area are on lockdown as well.

Witnesses initially reported that the gunman was “fully armed” and shooting at vehicles, prompting numerous calls to 911.

“We are aware of at least one suspect, there may possibly be others,” said CHP Sgt. Denise Joslin.

At the time of the shooting, President Obama was three miles away attending a fundraiser.

“Secret Service spokesman Max Milien said the agency was aware of the shooting and it’s not affecting the president’s event.”
