    SINK: DON’T FORGET LOCAL CANDIDATES

Speaking to the Florida delegation breakfast at the Democratic National Convention, former gubernatorial nominee Alex Sink encouraged the party’s activists to work for candidates across the ticket. Sink noted the importance of the state’s 29 electoral votes to the presidential contest, but also pointed to the races for congressional and legislative seats as well as constitutional referendums. “We’ve got a lot more at stake in Florida. … Let’s make sure our voters understand they need to vote for Democrats all the way down the ballot,” she said. Sink also nodded toward her own defeat against Gov. Rick Scott in 2010, using it as something of a specter for Democrats. “I don’t want to wake up like I did two years ago the morning after the election not feeling very good,” she said.
