SoFo J6 Entertainment Forever R&B Concert Series

    By Dedrick D. Henry, Sr.

The Forever R & B Concert was held on Sept. 22, 2012 at the Bank United Center (UM Campus).

The concert was a great success and the stars all shined bright.

Hosted by Radio personality Tamara G and Larry Dogg, with rump shaking music and down south DJ’S, the crowd was in for a show to remember.

Carl Thomas opened the show with his signature ballads, crooning the crowd with his smooth style and sultry deliverance.

Shirley Murdock dazzled the crowd with a few gospel hits and, of course, her most remembered song, As We Lay. Murdock also sang a couple of Michael Jackson’s songs in honor of his music and his legacy. Murdock’s voice was just as strong as it was when we first heard her sing.

Dru Hill rocked the house with some of their classics and love songs that took us back in time. They introduced a new member of Dru Hill and gave the crowd a glimpse of things to come from their new album.

Kelly Price shared a story with the audience and a brief history of her connection to Dru Hill, along with strong ballads that backed her story. Price paid loving homage to Whitney Houston, indulging the crowd with various Houston hits, adding her own amazing sound and piercing lyrics.

Forever R&B was a hit and a definite crowd-pleaser; I can’t wait for the next concert.
