Supervisor of Elections kicks off 2104 High School Voter Registration Drive in Broward County Public Schools
The Broward County Super-visor of Elections kicks off its annual High School Voter Registration Drive this week – March 17-21, 2014 – in over 40 Broward County high schools. The drive is an annual effort between the Supervisor of Elections, Broward County School Public Schools and numerous private and charter schools.
All Broward County public high schools will have the opportunity to register students who meet the qualifications to become registered voters. Broward County Supervisor of Elections officials are scheduled to visit over 40 local high schools to assist students and staff as they conduct voter registration drives.
The school with the most students registering to vote will receive the coveted brass trophy, banners and certificates. J.P. Taravella High School holds the current record with over 1,000 new students registered. High school students who are 18 years old are eligible to register to vote. Students who are 16 and 17 years of age may pre-register.
The goal of the Supervisor of Elections’ Office is to register 8,500 students in time for the 2014 midterm election. For additional information, contact Dr. Louise Ball, Social Studies Curriculum Supervisor, (754) 321-1870.
