Suspicious: Gospel legend Donna Creer and husband die in house fire
By Victor Trammell
According to Gospel-Pundit.com, a trailblazing figure and radio personality in the industry of gospel music and her husband have passed away due to a fire that ravaged their Little Rock, Arkansas home.
The bodies of Donna Creer, 57, and her husband Donald Creer, 51, were found early Wednesday morning after what investigators are describing as a âsuspiciousâ fire. The fire allegedly started around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning, according to local Little Rock television news channel, KATV.
Long time friend and radio co-host, Rev. Thomas âJC Lovesâ Clarence, says their community and the Gospel industry have lost a dear friend. âThe reaction was a shock and of course deep, deep hurt,â said JC, who said he owes a lot to Mrs. Creer. âDonna introduced me and my wife and weâve been married 20 years.â (KATV.com)
JC Loves also quoted the following in an emotional interview with KATV.com, a blog for the local news station:
â[Donna) was trying to keep Gospel music from being marginalized and Gospel music to be brought forth into the mainstream. When people would call and make their requests Iâd say âO.K,â and Iâd hang up, but before I could hang up she would always say âThanks for calling.â One time I asked her, âWhy do you do that?,â she said, âI appreciate people, they donât have to listen, and we appreciate them,â and thatâs the kind of person she was.â (KATV)
The well-known Gospel radio host and Broadcasterâs Hall of Famer left her mark in the ever-changing industry, which also mourned her death Wednesday. Donna Creer has been an asset to the gospel community for years. Sheâs been a vital part of the GMWA com-munity, and has lent her planning and visionary expertise to so many areas that have ignited the gospel music industry.
Last week, social media buzzed with prayers and signs of support for Donna Creer who had just begun dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
