Under the leadership of Chapter President Karlene Chung-Hogg, the Zeta Rho Omega Chapter, in partnership with the AKAdemic Foundation, is exceedingly proud to invest $33,600 into the dreams, talents, and futures of extraordinary young people who represent the very best of our communityâs future. These funds are awarded to an exceptional group of scholars to alleviate the financial burdens of higher education, aiding the next generation of leaders to pursue their academic ambitions.

    The fundraising effort was part of Alpha Kappa Alphaâs annual HBCU Impact Day; a philanthropic-filled day where the sorority encourages private donors, corporations and local chapters to financially support accredited HBCUs across the nation. Alpha Kappa Alpha set out on a four-year mission to raise $10 million for historically Black institutions as part of the HBCU for Life: A Call to Action initiative. This yearâwhich marks the fourth year of the effortâthe sorority hit a milestone, bringing in millions on September 20.
    âWe did it, we did it again!â Dr. Glenda Glover, AKA International President and Chief Executive Officer shared with excitement in a video message to sorority members. âThe online receipts alone totaled more than $1.3 million. We can now continue to provide endowments to our treasured HBCUs.â
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Zeta Rho Omega Chapterâs President Jeannie B. Floyd was informed that there were several chapter members whose families lost everything after the destruction of the Category 5 Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. This was the worst natural disaster to ever hit the Bahamas.
