n a powerful display of creativity and cultural pride, the Zeta Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. hosted its annual Dr. Malcolm M. Black Talent Hunt Competition on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. The event brought together ten outstanding high school students from Broward County, each of whom captivated the audience through their vocal, instrumental, dance, spoken word, or visual art performances.

    Everett Hamilton of Hamilton Multimedia was honored at center stage and presented the first John Herman Williams Award for outstanding work in multimedia at the Black-Tie Awards and Dinner Gala held on December 1, 2024 at Benvenuto Banquet Facility, Boynton Beach, FL.  The event was hosted by the historic Lambda Alpha Alpha (“LAA”) and Sigma Delta Delta (“SDD”) Chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

      The Jamaica United Relief Association (JURA), in collaboration with Commissioner Maxwell B. Chambers of the City of Miramar, is set to host a Day of Caring—a community initiative aimed at collecting, sorting, and organizing donations to aid local and international organizations that support those in need. This event reflects JURA’s nearly four decades of dedication to providing hope and assistance and now calls on community members to contribute to sustaining this mission.

       As a body of nearly 10,000 men and women of color, and specifically those of African American and Latino descent, employed as criminal justice practitioners throughout the nation, the members and Board of Directors of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, Inc. (NABLEO) have, since their inception, consistently taken an active stance against discriminatory practices in law enforcement, and other instances of social injustice that bring both division and discredit to those in the communities we serve and protect.

       The Black History Study Palm Beach County series – an immersive, engaging curriculum presented by local educators and artists – has opened registration for students in grades 8-12. The new, free youth leadership program begins September 7, 2024, and is presented by The Black History Project, Inc. , The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, Inc., and the Palm Beach County African Diaspora Historical and Cultural Society, Inc.

       Mr. Henry Graham, founder of LES – Liberia Economic and Social  Development, Inc. -will be honored and celebrated for his 4 decades of community service in the South Broward/Hollywood area of Broward County. The celebration, hosted by LES and the Liberia Civic Association, titled “ Portrait of a Public Servant “ will be held on Saturday, August 24, at Tropical Acres Steak House, 2500 Griffin Road, Dania, Fl. The celebration will begin promptly at 4:30 p.m. The tickets cost $60 and can be purchased on Eventbright. The attire is semi-formal.

       On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Rodney Baltimore,  HOT 105 Radio personality, served as the master of ceremony at the Redeeming Word Christian Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where a candidate’s forum was held, providing an opportunity for voters to hear from candidates vying for Broward County’s constitutional offices and judicial candidates for circuit and county courts.
