Gloria participated in the local public school system as a youth, attending the renown Dillard High School. Excelling academically, she became Valedictorian for the Class of 1958. After graduation, she ventured onward to the highest hills in Tallahassee to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration & Supervision.

First Baptist Church Piney Grove, a cornerstone of the Fort Lauderdale/Lauderdale Lakes community for 120 years, is thrilled to announce a momentous occasion – the burning of the mortgage on their historic property. This celebration marks the culmination of months of dedication and stewardship by the congregation.

Mrs. Jewel Lewis, a community icon and pioneer in Broward County and most assuredly the Franklin Park Community, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
McKoy died on November 10th, at the age of 69.
