      The recent whirlwind of Trump administration foreign policy measures―many reversing those of the Biden administration―illustrates the fact that Americans have sharply different opinions about their relationship to other nations.

     I drove to Ohio State University that day to participate in a study on Amantadine Therapy for Cognitive Impairment Related to Post-COVID Condition. The Principal Investigator, Dr. Andrew Schamess, whom I had yet to meet, is highly regarded for his work with underserved populations and his efforts to make healthcare more accessible. His values resonate with me, reminding me of my father, a pediatrician, and my mother, a nurse, who met while treating the poor in Haiti.

The capitol city was a buzz as the word went out that Florida A&M University President Dr. Larry Robinson was resigning. The night before Robinson conferred with ministers and stakeholders giving them the news before meeting with the university executive staff and vice presidents the next day. Despite elevating the university’s status on so many levels, his departure was triggered by unusual and avoidable missteps.
